Conditional Cash Transfer Programme Benefits Poor And Vulnerable Nigerian Households

The State programme manager of the Conditional Cash Transfer Unit in Gombe, Abubakar Jatau, has said the conditional cash transfer program continued to make a positive impact on poor and vulnerable Nigerians.


The State programme manager of the Conditional Cash Transfer Unit in Gombe, Abubakar Jatau made this statement during the National Cash Transfer Office - Conditional Cash Transfer ( NCTO -CCT) organised Stepdown Orientation training to State Conditional Cash transfer staff, local government Desk officers, conditional cash transfer facilitators and local government grievance redress officers.


The event was held at Amina Town Hall Conference Centre in Gombe, the Gombe State Capital.


The State programme manager of the Conditional Cash Transfer Unit in Gombe, Abubakar Jatau stressed that the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) has been the government’s most successful programme in providing support to the poorest and vulnerable individuals in urban and rural households across Nigeria.


The State programme manager of the Conditional Cash Transfer Unit in Gombe, Abubakar Jatau, also stated that thousands of pour and vulnerable people have greatly benefited from the project and continue to do so.


The recent National Social Safety Net Program scale-Up (NASSP-SU) Orientation step-down training to trainers, desk officers, conditional cash transfer facilitators, local government grievance officers and state conditional cash transfer staff.


The State programme manager of the Conditional Cash Transfer Unit in Gombe, Abubakar Jatau, highlighted that previously, conditional cash transfers only covered 73% of rural poor and vulnerable populations, with only 13% of Urban being included.


However, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the federal government made efforts to support the urban poor and vulnerable in the country.


Also speaking, Bilkisu Dausa Musa, the Training and Communication Officer of the Gombe State Conditional Cash Transfer Unit, stressed the significance of the federal government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) project in supporting poor and vulnerable populations.


Bilkisu Dausa Musa, emphasized the extensive training conducted for stakeholders involved in the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme and reiterated the program’s positive impact on beneficiaries.


Musa highlighted the collaboration between the National Social Safety Net Program scale-Up (NASSP-SU) with Gombe State underscoring their efforts to boost the morale of beneficiaries across the country.


Bilkisu Dausa Musa, also stressed the role of the National Social Safety Net Program scale-Up (NASSP-SU) in scaling up the conditional cash transfer program and targeting beneficiaries in all eleven local government areas of Gombe State, both in rural and urban areas, using data from National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office (NASCO) and State Operations Coordinating Units (SOCU).
