Kwara State NSIP: Message To N-Power Volunteers
Good day everyone, I'm honored to be in your midst on a unified channel/medium.
First, I would like to register my displeasure towards some beneficiaries who made an audio message/recording and circulated same all over the media including radio and social media platforms, claiming there's famine in the state and that the federal government has neglected them since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. This is false and laced with suspicious and self-serving intents at this time when all hands are on deck to see that their transition plan is successful.
This move by a handful of beneficiaries has actually constituted a major setback in the effort being made by my office to solicit support for N-power beneficiaries because the wrong signals have been sent out to potential sponsors and benefactors who think that the message in circulation was put forward with my consent. The state government finds the content of the said message offensive, to say the least.
I would like to inform you that The Office of the Focal Person of the NSIP in Kwara State had all this time been working tirelessly towards seeing that exited beneficiaries are either transitioned or engaged as appropriate, having partnered with relevant sectors and stakeholders in its bid to achieve this feat.
Among these potential benefactors partnered with are microfinance banks who will provide soft loans with long-term and flexible repayment options. Others are the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Department (SAED) of the NYSC, where interested beneficiaries will learn new skills or update existing skills for those who already have one.
This is designed to make beneficiaries self-sufficient, independent and employers of labour which will boost their standards of living and the economy of the state and the country at large.
It is to be noted that the above program is intended for all N-power categories including N-Tech, N-Teach, N-Agro, N-Health and N-Build.
At this time, my office is working to try to mend fences and undo the damage that has been done by the erroneous message put into circulation by a few individuals. I urge us all to be patient and support the government with prayers as it works out modalities to ensure that those with backlogs are cleared and the transition programme is achieved.
