Npower News: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Suspends Npower, School Feeding And Other National Social Investment Programmes For Six Weeks

According to Npower News, President Bola Tinubu has put on hold all administered Social Investment Programmes, which includes Npower, Conditional Cash Transfer, Home Grown School Feeding Program and other social investment programs by the National Social Investment Programme Agency the agency in charge of Npower.


According to Npower News, the Director Information, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Segun Imohiosen, said "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision was in view of the ongoing investigation of alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programmes.”


“All four programmes managed by the National Social Investment Programme Agency which includes Npower, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme and Home Grown School Feeding Programme have been put on hold for a period of 6 weeks in the first instance,” the statement read.


“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also raised significant concerns regarding operational lapses and improprieties surrounding payments to beneficiaries especially Npower beneficiaries, ”  the Director Information, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Segun Imohiosen said.


According to Npower News, President Bola Tinubu also set up a ministerial panel to carry out a holistic investigation of the agency’s operations to recommend necessary reforms of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).


During the period of this suspension, all National Social Investment Programme Agency related operations, including but not limited to all distributions, events, payment to Npower beneficiaries and other beneficiaries, collaborations and registrations are now halted.
