Npower Payment Update: Stipends Expected in Two to Three Weeks – Aishat Alubankudi

According to recent updates from Npower News, stipends for Npower Batch C beneficiaries are anticipated to be paid within two to three weeks. This information was announced by Adeshina A. Adex, the Publicity Secretary for Npower, who referenced details provided by Aishat Alubankudi, Program Manager for grants to vulnerable groups.

Despite this development, Adeshina A. Adex also confirmed that the National Association of Npower Beneficiaries still plans to meet with Dr. Badamasi Lawal, CEO of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), to discuss several key issues, including delayed payments, exit packages, and potential permanent employment for beneficiaries. This comes in light of some Batch C beneficiaries urging the association to forgo the meeting, believing that payment assurances already made by the Ministry are sufficient.

In addition, Adeshina noted that a meeting took place last week between the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and representatives from Npower. During the meeting, the Minister requested a list of beneficiaries eligible for payment, indicating progress towards resolving outstanding payments.

Adeshina voiced his dissatisfaction with the continued delays, stressing that there is no justification for the federal government’s inability to clear the backlog of stipends. He also highlighted the need for permanent job opportunities for Batch C beneficiaries, who have contributed significantly to the Nigerian economy.

Many Batch C beneficiaries have been waiting for nine to twelve months for their stipends, some having gone unpaid for over four years despite their repeated appeals. These beneficiaries, who are graduates, have been diligent in contributing to national development and are yet to receive what is owed to them.

Adeshina A. Adex appealed to the federal government to accelerate the payment of the outstanding stipends, particularly during this period of inflation and economic difficulty. He urged the government to consider the plight of these beneficiaries and take prompt action to fulfill its obligations.
