N-Power Yobe: FG Trains 124 Monitors For National Social Investment Programme

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and Social Development has organised a one day training to 124 independent monitors for the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).
Speaking while flagging off the training in Damaturu on Thursday, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq disclosed that the monitors would oversee various intervention programmes of the federal government at the community level in the state.
Established by Buhari led administration, the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) is targeted at empowering unemployed Nigerians and uplifting the lives of poor and vulnerable citizens in the country.
She said the training was aimed at preparing the monitors to their responsibilities, and ensuring that cardinal objectives of these programmes are achieved. 
“The independent monitors would be assigned to monitor the programmes in their locality, such as school, health post and market clusters” 
Represented by an official in the ministry, Hauwa Gadzama,  the minister noted that about 13 million people have so far benefitted from the social investment programmes in Nigeria.
According to her such programmes comprised of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), Home Grown School Feeding, Npower as well as Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme (GEEP).
