Npower News: EFCC Holds Passport Of Ex-Ministers In Charge Of Npower Dr. Betta Edu And Sadiya Umar Farouq

According to Npower News, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken hold of passports belonging to the ex-Ministers in charge of Npower Dr. Betta Edu, and Sadiya Umar Farouq, over the ongoing probe into misappropriation of funds in the ministry in charge of Npower.


According to Npower News, the ex-minister in charge of Npower Sadiya Umar Farouq's passport was also held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as part of the ex-minister's bail conditions before she was released on Monday.


According to reports from a reliable source "the international passports of the ex-Minister in charge of Npower Dr Betta Edu and the former minister in charge of Npower Sadiya Umar Farouq were seized to prevent both ex-Ministers from traveling out of the country amidst the investigation."


“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has seized the passports of the two ex-ministers, Sadiya Umar Farouq and Dr. Betta Edu. EFCC have also withheld Mrs Halima Shehu’s (the former CEO in charge of National Social Investment Programme Agency the agency in charge of Npower) international passport pending the conclusion of investigations. EFCC does not want to risk having any of the ex-minister travel out of the country while their investigations is ongoing.”


According to Npower News, the lawyer to the ex-minister, Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN) was unreachable for comment and also did not reply to a message seeking his comment. Also, efforts to get to the ex-minister in charge of Npower Dr Betta Edu was futile.
