Npower News: Gbajabiamila Accused of Corruption That Involved Betta Edu

According to Npower News, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has implored EFCC the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to start an investigation on alleged corruption charges against Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff to the President.


According to Npower News, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas made the call on Thursday, February 8, 2024, during a press conference on the state of Nigeria. 


Femi Gbajabiamila, the chief of staff to the president, who was the immediate past speaker of the house, has been accused of corruption that involved the former minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.


According to Npower News, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, called on Nigerians to avoid spreading fake news and make constructive criticism so that government officials can be properly made accountable. The speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas affirmed that the allegation against the president's chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila can make the democracy of Nigeria less effective. 


The president's chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila said defamation of ones character on the cyberspace could mar the reputation and integrity of a person or an organisation.


According to Npower News, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas said: "The recent unjustified and baseless allegations against the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, point to the danger of an unfettered and unaccountable social media. Such acts not only undermine the integrity of our democracy but also erode the fabric of our national unity." 


The speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas said Femi Gbajabiamila was just one out of millions of Nigerians facing cyberbullying and daily coordinated defamation. The speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas emphasized that many of the victims did not have the privilege enjoyed by the former speaker.
