Latest Npower Update: Npower Beneficiaries Plan to Voice Concerns on Channels Television Over 9 to 12 Months of Unpaid Stipends

Adeshina A. Adex, the Publicity Secretary of the National Association of Npower Beneficiaries, has revealed that the association is planning to approach Channels Television to express their grievances regarding the 9 to 12 months of unpaid stipends owed to them by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The association intends to highlight their concerns in a live interview, which, according to estimates, will require ₦200,000 to arrange with the television station.

The association has decided that this sum will be raised internally by its officials. They are not soliciting financial assistance from the public or other Npower beneficiaries. Adex has cautioned members against seeking external funds, as the contributions will be handled within the association.

Npower Batch C beneficiaries have been owed stipends for 9 to 12 months and have tried various means to secure payment, all of which have been unsuccessful. The association is also awaiting the resumption of Dr. Badamasi Lawal, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), as they have already sent him a letter addressing their unpaid stipends. Beneficiaries are hopeful that once Dr. Lawal assumes office, he will act swiftly to resolve the issue by engaging with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lift the suspension on Npower. The program was suspended in January, causing significant hardship for Batch C beneficiaries who have diligently worked at their assignments for over a year without receiving compensation. Despite their contributions to the economy, these young Nigerians are still awaiting their payments.
