PCCSIGN Praises Tinubu for Grants to Support Emerging Content Creators

The Practitioners of Content Creators, Skit-Makers, and Influencers Guild of Nigeria (PCCSIGN) has expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s initiative to provide grants aimed at assisting up-and-coming content creators.

During an interview in Lagos on Monday, the National President of PCCSIGN, Michael Nwabufo, also known as Mike Premium, commended the President for this effort. Nwabufo, who also works as a talent and brand manager, explained that the guild had applied for these government grants to help young influencers expand their streaming platforms.

He revealed that beneficiaries would receive grants ranging from N1 million to N3 million between September and October 2024. "We want to inform upcoming content creators, skit makers, influencers, and models that we have successfully applied for the Federal Government’s financial assistance on their behalf,” said Nwabufo. “The grants will be disbursed this September, with amounts between N1 million and N3 million being deposited directly into recipients’ accounts."

Nwabufo emphasized that the grants would enable young creatives to purchase essential production tools such as cameras, lighting, laptops, and microphones, ultimately helping to strengthen the creative industry. He also noted that PCCSIGN would be collaborating with a bank to assist the creators in opening business accounts for the grant deposits.

To receive updates on the grant disbursement, Nwabufo urged interested parties to visit PCCSIGN’s Instagram page, follow the link in the bio, and register. He stressed that the grants are intended to help content creators grow professionally, not for personal expenditure, recognizing the immense talent among young Nigerian creators.

In addition to the grants, Nwabufo, who serves as an ambassador for the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), announced that he would be covering the costs for 100 emerging artists to register their businesses with the CAC. He also mentioned PCCSIGN’s partnership with the Nigeria Police to ensure content creators are recognized nationwide and protected from wrongful profiling or harassment.

He encouraged content creators and influencers to register on the PCCSIGN website to obtain official ID cards, emphasizing the importance of respecting creators as they play a significant role in the industry. Nwabufo highlighted these initiatives as steps toward nation-building and youth empowerment in Nigeria.

In his commendation of President Tinubu, Nwabufo stated that PCCSIGN had met with the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, to express gratitude for the government’s ongoing support of the creative sector. The guild also visited Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, praising her efforts to empower creatives and promote the industry.

Nwabufo recognized several Nigerian content creators who have made significant contributions to the field, including Brain Jotter, Oga Sabinus, Mark Angel, Crazeclown, Sydney Talker, Lord Lamba, Billion Prince White, Taaoma, Nasty Blaq, Zfancy, and many others. He also mentioned that Nigeria’s “I-dice” initiative for the creative industry will foster the development of even more talent in skit-making.

Nwabufo concluded by highlighting the impact of empowering content creators, stating that if supported, they could help lift thousands, if not millions, of Nigerians out of poverty due to the nation's high level of creativity. He also hinted at upcoming plans for an award ceremony to honor content creators and influencers, as well as national service delivery awards for public office holders.
