Npower On Npower Payment Delay - Director Explains Mopping Up Of Funds

According to Npower on Npower payment delay,  the Director of Finance and Account National Social Investment Programme of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation explained to the committee during the budget defense the mopping up of Npower funds to other Ministries and this had led to the delay in payment of Npower batch c nine months backlogs.



The Director in charge of Npower and other social investment programs disclosed this during the Ministry budget defense. The director in charge of Npower made the following reports to the committee:


A. The funds that were mopped up and gathered from the Social Investment office were actually recurrent.


B. The funds gathered from the social investment office is N127 billion. These funds were made for Npower payments.


C. All Npower batch c stream 1 received 15 months of Npower payments, twelve months for the service year and three months exit package.


D. All Npower batch c stream 2 received three months Npower payment from October to December 2022.


E. Npower batch C stream 2 beneficiaries are owed nine months of stipends from January to September 2023.


F. Eligible Npower batch c beneficiaries are four hundred and forty thousand.


According to Npower, the Ministry probabily left the fund meant for Npower batch c beneficiaries unpaid until the Federal Government mopped up and gathered the money from the Npower Account to other Ministries.


According to Npower, though the Minister in charge of Npower Dr. Betta Edu had earlier stated in one of her interviews that funds has been recovered and Npower batch c beneficiaries of the Npower program will receive Npower payment soon, the Ministry director of finance National Social Investment Programme stated that the ministry is still struggling to get some funds so that they can pay these Npower batch c  beneficiaries their outstanding stipends.
